Sister City Shares Culture at Annual Cherry Blossom Festival
Saturday, April 13, Nashville's Public Square was dressed in paper lanterns and the scents of Asian cuisine as Music City prepared to celebrate Japanese culture with its 11th Annual Cherry Blossom Festival. Several attendees arrived in traditional kimonos and obi's, while others cosplayed as popular anime characters. The day-long event concluded the city's Japan Week festivities with dance performances and martial arts.

"On Saturday, the city of Nashville honored one of its eight international sister cities, Kamakura, Japan, with a cultural celebration at the downtown public square. The Nashville Cherry Blossom Festival attracts hundreds of Tennesseans each spring."

"This festival is sort of like a coming together about the Japanese culture, but not just them, also all cultures. So, it's sort of our way of saying like 'hey come out, learn something new about a culture that's not your own.'"

Beyond fashion, the flavors of the east were featured with food trucks and tents. Otaku Ramen and Rice Rice Baby served up Asian-inspired street food, such as hot ramen, teriyaki beef, and rice and veggies."
